Attorney General Alan Wilson sends letter to S.C. State Election Commission ahead of U.S. Senate special Republican primary runoff

(COLUMBIA, S.C.) –Attorney General Alan Wilson announced today that he sent a letter to the South Carolina State Election Commission ahead of the U.S. Senate special Republican primary runoff election regarding the need to remind voters of polling place changes.

“Clear and timely notice of changes will reduce confusion and maintain confidence in the election process,” Attorney General Wilson stated. "Voters who are preparing to cast their ballot in the upcoming special election run-off should have no reason to second-guess where they are voting on August 25."

The letter highlights the compressed timeline of this special election leading to the need for timely alerts to voters if their polling places consolidate or change. Attorney General Wilson also asks that the State Election Commission provide voters with as much advance notice as possible of any changes that will impact their election day voting.

Early voting for the U.S. Senate special Republican primary runoff begins on Wednesday, August 19th.
